The Harvest Moon is bountiful!
I have been in love with the moon for a long time (aren’t we all?) My first painting of the moon was my Twin Buttes morning light piece, where the moon is beautiful, but quite small! I knew after making that piece that I would need to include the moon in another piece. The moon was going to be more of a star in this painting… until I realized, the harvest is a time of plenty! If my vision for this piece was the metaphorical harvest of bright flowers, there had better be MANY flowers. So, in my second painting ever of the moon, she got upstaged by an amalgamation of the most beautiful flower bouquets I could find this month. Even though the moon fades into the background of this piece, we still feel her warmth, her glow. There’s something about fall and preparing ourselves for the colder months of the year that feels so sacred to me. So important. How do we prepare for our restful time of the year? What bounty did we reap from all our efforts this summer? I’m so excited to slow down as nature slows, to melt into my couch as the earth freezes.
If you want the first exclusive print of this Harvest Moon piece (that I will be gold-foiling by hand), you can join my September Harvest Moon Letter Club! The last day to join the club is September 16th. This is to insure that I have enough time to carefully package each bundle by hand.
Thanks for being here. Please let me know what this piece brings up for you. How do you view the fall months that loom before us?
